My first web site using Joomla was a project I took as a volunteer. I found out that my town's High School did not have a decent web site for their soccer program, thus I volunteer to build them one. The Red Devils soccer  site was built with Joomla and is running on the same software architecture as this web site. Obviously it needs some content from the soccer program coaches and their assistants, but they now have a web site that can accomodate their needs. The site also includes a gallery application. The gallery uses Gallery software, another open source application, to organize albums of pictures related to the soccer teams. The nice thing about using Gallery is that it also integrates with the editor used for adding content, thus an author of content can easily select and insert a thumbnail of a photo from the albums stored in the gallery. Both of these sites and any others built with Joomla can easily include a way for users and visitors to register and provide content based on the security set by the web admin.
